BOX SCOREEDGEWATER, N.J.— On Tuesday the Yeshiva University women's tennis played its first match of the spring and lost a close one, 5-4, to Hunter College at the Binghamton Racquet Club.
The Maccabees were down 2-1 after doubles play was complete. Yeshiva picked up a win at the No. 3 doubles spot as
Yael Rahimzada and Iana Schuman won 9-8. At No. 1 doubles,
Galila Shapiro and
Jannah Eichenbaum were defeated 8-1. At No. 2 doubles,
Jenny Tepler and
Daniella Penn lost 8-2.
In singles play, Eichenbaum was a winner at No. 3 after winning by scores of 7-6, 3-6, 11-9. At No. 5,
Anita Levy was a 6-0, 6-0 victor. At No.6 singles, it was
Dena Rubanowitz earning a 6-0, 6-1 win. At No. 1 singles, Shapiro lost 6-1, 6-0, while Tepler lost 6-3, 6-2, and at No. 2.
Aliza Arbesfeld lost 6-1, 6-2.
