Men's Soccer Loses to St. Joseph's-Long Island for First Loss of Season

PATCHOGUE, N.Y.— The Yeshiva men's soccer lost on the road to St. Joseph's-Long Island (SJC) 4-0 Thursday evening ending the Maccabees five match unbeaten streak to start the season.
 
Yeshiva is now 4-1-1 overall this season and 0-1-1 in Skyline Conference play. SJC is now 2-4-0 and 1-0-0 in the Skyline Conference.
 
After a scoreless tie at halftime, the host Golden Eagles netted four second half goals to run away with the match. Four different SJC players had one goal each in the contest.
 
SJC broke the scoreless tie at the 51:06 mark when Cody Kull scored the first goal of the game. Then Chance Casey made the score 2-0 with a goal at the 63:02 mark. The hosts pulled ahead 3-0 on a score by Robert Gomez at 76:42 before Ryan Hempfling netted a goal at 83:24.
 
Yeshiva had held 5-2 advantage on shots in the first half, but the Golden Eagles outshot the Maccabees 10-3 over the last forty-five minutes to hold a 12-8 advantage overall.
 
Daniel Amar led Yeshiva with three shots, while five other Maccabees had one shot each. Casey led SJC with three shots.
 
Yeshiva returns to action on Sunday for a home contest against the College at Old Westbury at the Fairleigh Dickinson University Stadium at 5:15 p.m.
