BOX SCOREQUEENS, N.Y.— The Yeshiva University women's tennis team earned another win on Wednesday as the Maccabees beat Sarah Lawrence College 6-3 in a Skyline Conference match at the USTA National Tennis Center on Wednesday evening.
The win improves Yeshiva to 4-2 overall this season and 4-1 in the Skyline Conference. Sarah Lawrence College is now 1-2 overall and 0-1 in Skyline Conference play.
Yeshiva took two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead before heading into singles play. At No.1 doubles,
Shani Hava and
Jannah Eichenbaum won 8-2 over the Sarah Lawrence College No. 1 duo of Sofia Reh and Sarah Pyatt. At No. 3 doubles,
Galila Shapiro and
Lindsay Frucher were 8-1 winners over the team of Caroline Harrison and Arianna Cooper. At the No. 2 doubles position, Sarah Lawrence College earned a point as the Gryphons team of Autumn Atkinson and Juliet Slade were 8-6 winners over
Jenny Tepler and
Tova Hirt.
In singles play, it was another 6-0, 6-0 for Hava at No. 1 as she beat Reh. The Maccabees picked up a win at No. 3 singles as Eichenbaum won 6-1, 6-4 over Pyatt. At No. 4 singles, Frucher won 7-5, 6-2 over Slade, while at No. 5 Shapiro beat Harrison 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. Sarah Lawrence won at No. 2 singles as Atkinson beat Tepler 7-5, 6-1. At No. 6 singles, Monika Spancheska from Sarah Lawrence College beat
Dena Rubanowitz 6-4, 4-6, 7-6.
Yeshiva is back in action on Friday for a match at FDU Florham at 11 a.m.
