BOX SCOREFARMINGDALE, N.Y.— The Yeshiva University women's tennis team suffered a setback on Sunday as the Maccabees lost 9-0 to the defending Skyline Conference champion Farmingdale State College.
The loss snaps Yeshiva's four match win streak, and it leaves the Maccabees at 5-3 overall. They end their Skyline Conference regular season at 4-2, giving them the inside track to a conference playoff spot next month. Farmingdale State is now 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the Skyline Conference.
In doubles play, at No. 1
Shani Hava and
Jannah Eichenbaum lost 8-1 to the Farmingdale State team of Jessica Sickles and Alex Bentz. At No. 2 doubles,
Jenny Tepler and
Lindsay Frucher lost 8-1 to the duo of Priscilla Signore and Tatiana Rosamilia. At No. 3,
Galila Shapiro and
Tova Hirt were defeated 8-0 by the Farmingdale State team of Denise Liguori and Michelle Fredericks.
In singles play, Hava lost a close three set match to Sickles. She won the first set 6-4, but lost 6-in the second and 10-5 in the tiebreaker. At No. 2 singles, Eichenbaum was defeated by Signore 6-2, 6-1. At No. 3, it was Tepler falling to Bentz 6-3, 6-1. At No. 4, Frucher lost 7-6, 6-0 to Fredericks. In No. 5 singles, Shapiro fell 6-0, 6-1 to Rosamila, and at No. 6 it was Hirt losing to Liguori 6-0, 6-2.
Yeshiva is back in action September 30 for a match with Western Connecticut State at 8 p.m.
