BOX SCOREQUEENS, N.Y.— The Yeshiva University women's tennis team snapped its mini one match losing streak and picked up a 6-3 win over Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) at the Queens College Tennis Complex on Tuesday evening.
Yeshiva is now 6-3 overall on the year, while WCSU is now 3-5 this season.
The Maccabees won two of three in doubles to take a 2-1 lead. At the No.1 doubles spot,
Shani Hava and
Jannah Eichenbaum earned an 8-3 win over Lianne Maynard and Oliva Mauro of WCSU. At No. 2 doubles,
Galila Shapiro and
Lindsay Frucher beat the WCSU No. 2 duo of Alexandra Moravsky and Melissa Osorio, 8-5. At No.3 doubles, WCSU pulled out a tight one as the team of Carine Jacque and Violet Lsi were 9-8 (7-3) winners over
Tova Hirt and
Dena Rubanowitz.
In singles play, Hava beat Maynard 6-1, 6-4, while at No. 2, Eichenbaum won 7-5, 6-4 over Osorio. Yeshiva's other singles wins were at Nos. 5 and 6. At No. 5, Shapiro won in three sets over Nicole Salamacha 6-7 (4-7), 6-0, 10-6. At No. 6,
Aliza Arbesfeld was a 7-5, 6-3 winner over Moravsky. At No. 3 singles, Mauro was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Frucher. At No. 4, Jacque was a 3-6, 6-4, 10-4 winner against Hirt.
