Box Score BRANDYWINE, Pa.— The Yeshiva men's soccer team remained undefeated in 2014 and improved to 4-0-0 this season as the Maccabees defeated Penn State Brandywine (PSB) 4-1 in front of a large crowd which consisted of people in the local Jewish community in the Philadelphia area, including members of Beth Hamedrosh and Lower Merion Synagogues.
The Maccabees scored the first four goals of the game, including three in the first half as Yeshiva led 3-0 at halftime. The Maccabees took a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute of play on a goal by
Daniel Amar. Then in the eleventh minute, Philadelphia native
Leon Aboudi netted a goal to put Yeshiva up by a pair. The senior midfielder collected a pass from
Itamar Ben David and lofted the ball from the wing over the PSB goalkeeper to the far post side. Then midway through the first half,
Adir Alon scored his first of two goals on the afternoon at 25:44 and the Maccabees were ahead 3-0. The play was set up when an Aboudi corner kick was headed toward the goal by
Rafi Friedman before being blasted home by Alon.
In the second half, Alon scored again. He took a pass from
Gilad Bengio and blasted a shot from about 20 yards out to make the score 4-0.
The hosts netted a goal later in the second half when PSU's Patrick Lutes put one home to break up the shutout bid. It was the first goal allowed this season by Yeshiva goalkeeper
Maor Feinstein.
Overall, Feinstein made eight saves in the win and improved his record to 3-0-0. PSB's Patrick O'Neill made seven saves for the home team.
Yeshiva returns to action on Tuesday for its first Skyline Conference match of the season at Purchase College at 8 p.m.
