FLUSHING, NY --- The Yeshiva University women's tennis team won a critical Skyline Conference matchup against visiting Sarah Lawrence College on Wednesday night at the Queens College Tennis Courts.
With the victory, the Maccabees run their conference record to 5-1, taking sole possession of second place in the Skyline standings and all but assuring they will host a conference playoff match. Their overall record is now 5-3. The Gryphons drop to 8-3 overall and 4-2 against conference opponents.
Sophomore
Shani Hava had another brilliant performance, teaming with junior
Tzipora Leiser to win 8-2 at number one doubles, then getting a critical win at number one singles, 6-0, 6-0. Seniors
Jannah Eichenbaum and
Cayla Gold both one crucial tie-breakers in singles play, with Eichenbaum winning 4-6, 7-5 (10-7) at number three singles while Gold took number six single in a marathon 6-1, 4-6 (7-3) thriller.
Yeshiva will look to clinch their playoff spot on Sunday when they travel to Mount Saint Mary College in a 1:00 p.m. match.
