Men’s Soccer shuts down Farmingdale, 2-0

Box Score

BROOKYLN, NY --- Yeshiva University defeated visiting Farmingdale State College, 2-0, in Skyline Conference men's soccer action on Thursday night at the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The Maccabees got on the board first, scoring off a two-on-one in the ninth minute when freshman Julian Ribak hit a beautiful cross to Junior Itamar Ben David for the finish. It was Ben David's seventh goal of the season as Yeshiva went up 1-0. The hosts would score again in the 38th minute when sophomore Aaron Braun stole the ball in front of the Farmingdale goal and finished himself with a single touch as the Maccabees took a two-goal advantage.

The 2-0 score would hold up going into halftime, and would represent the final score of the game as Yeshiva turned back a furious rally attempt by the Rams to clinch the win.

Sophomore Maor Feinstein recorded two saves in goal for Yeshiva, picking up his first shutout of the season. Farmingdale junior netminder Kevin Gordillo finished with one stop.

"I'm really proud of the guys putting together their first shutout of the season tonight."
head coach Josh Pranksy said afterwards. "Every player was able to put pride aside, dig in and do what had to be done."

Yeshiva improves to 4-4-1 on the season and 3-0-1 against Skyline conference competition. Farmingdale State drops to 6-6 and 3-2 in the league standings.

The Maccabees wore special pink jerseys during the match, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a first for the program.

Yeshiva will continue their season on Sunday, October 11th when they travel to the Sage Colleges to face the Gators in another crucial Skyline match. Match time is set for 3:00 p.m. At press time, Yeshiva and Sage were the last two undefeated teams in the conference, and will be playing for first place.
