NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's fencing team competed against four schools on the campus of Hunter College, on Sunday, November 22.
The Maccabees fell to Johns Hopkins University in the first bout, 26-1. Yeshiva dropped its next match to the United States Naval Academy, 16-11. The Macs fell to Maryland, 19-8, and then dropped its last bout to the College of William & Mary, 20-7.
In Sabre, junior
Jack Sasson earned five wins, with two of them coming against William & Mary. He won two more against Maryland and added another against the United States Naval Academy. Freshman
Yosef Kerendian earned a pair of wins against William & Mary. Sophomore
Jonathan Hoffman racked up a win against Maryland, while junior
Samuel Retter went one for two against the United States Naval Academy.
In Foil, sophomore
Spencer Brasch won six of his 12 battles, picking up two wins against William & Mary, Maryland, and the United States Naval Academy. Freshman
Yonah Shmalo earned won win against William & Mary, and Navy.
In Epee,
Ariel Ancer won all three of his battles against Navy. He also picked up a win against Maryland. Freshman
James Alavosus won two out of three against both Navy and Maryland. He also picked up one win against William & Mary and added one more victory against Johns Hopkins University. Junior
Abraham Budow earned one win against Navy.
Yeshiva will host a fencing meet on Sunday, February 7. The event will last all day.
