Box Score NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's basketball team pushed #12 New York University to the limit, but it was not enough as the Violets were able to come-from-behind and earn the victory over the Maccabees, 66-57, at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center on Wednesday evening. Yeshiva falls to 6-6 overall, while nationally ranked NYU remains undefeated at 6-0.

Yeshiva had a seven-point lead with 11:48 remaining in the second half, but NYU went on an 11-2 run to jump out to its first lead of the game, 48-46, with 8:05 remaining in regulation time. The Maccabees were able to answer on the next possession as senior forward
Shelby Rosenberg converted a layup with just one second remaining on the shot clock, to tie the game at 48.

The Violets were able to turn momentum back into their favor and jump back out to a 55-52 advantage, with just over five minutes left. Yeshiva would once again show its resiliency, as senior forward
Joseph Ammar successfully converted a three-point shot that tied the game at 55, with 4:21 left to play.

New York University took complete control in the last 4:06 of the contest by scoring 11 of the game's last 13 points to win the game, 66-57. Â Â

Yeshiva got off to a great start in the beginning of the game, by scoring the first six points of the contest. Rosenberg drilled a three-pointer to give the Maccabees a commanding 13-2 advantage, just 4:23 into the opening half. Less than a minute remaining in first stanza, the Violets pulled to within six, at 28-22, but Ammar's field-goal from downtown put Yeshiva back up by nine.

The Maccabees went into the intermission with a 31-24 advantage. Yeshiva had the lead for the entire first period. In the second half, the Violets proved why they are nationally ranked by outscoring the Maccabees, 42-26, in the final period, including an 11-2 run in the last 4:06 of the contest.

Rosenberg tallied a game-high 19 points, while Ammar scored 17. Junior guard
Jordan Hod added seven points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

Yeshiva will take the next few weeks off, but will be back in action on Wednesday, January 20, for a Skyline game against Farmingdale State at the Max Stern Athletic Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
