Box Score PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team dropped its Skyline matchup to SUNY Purchase, 61-50, on the campus of Purchase College on Sunday afternoon.

The Maccabees were led by senior forward
Julia Owen, who scored a game-high 23 points. She also added eight rebounds, blocked four shots, and forced five steals.

Yeshiva (0-6, 0-4 Skyline) jumped out of the gate early, as a layup by Owen gave the Maccabees an early 8-2 advantage, just under six minutes into the contest. The Panthers (1-7, 1-1 Skyline) responded by scoring the final eleven points of the first quarter to jump out to a 13-8 lead.

Owen got Yeshiva off to a good start in the second quarter, by draining a three-point basket, to pull the visiting team within two. Later in the stanza, junior guard
Tess Blaustein nailed a jump shot from just outside the paint to narrow Purchase's lead to 17-15, with just over seven minutes remaining in the opening half. Owen's two-point basket pulled Yeshiva to within one, at 18-17, with 5:38 left until halftime. Both teams went into intermission with the score 21-18 in favor of Purchase.

In the third quarter, Owen scored five straight points to help Yeshiva tie the game at 26. With 5:57 left in the third, Owen successfully executed a jump shot to give Yeshiva the lead, 30-28. The Panthers would turn momentum into their favor by going on a 12-4 run to end the third stanza and put Yeshiva in a hole, 40-34.

Purchase was able to pull away in the fourth quarter to earn its first conference win of the season. The Maccabees were outscored 21-16 in the final stanza.

For the game, Owen shot 10-15 from the field, and 3-5 from three-point range. Sophomore forward
Michal Alge grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds and forced three steals.

Yeshiva will be back in action on Tuesday, for a non-conference matchup at the College of New Rochelle, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
