Box Score NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team suffered a heartbreaking loss to the College of New Rochelle, 60-53, on Tuesday evening. The Maccabees had a five-point lead going into the fourth quarter, but the Blue Angels rallied in the final stanza to snatch the victory.

The Maccabees (0-7) were led by sophomore forward
Michal Alge, who produced a double-double with 12 points and grabbed just as many rebounds. She shot 50 percent from the field.

In the opening quarter, the Blue Angels (5-7) jumped out to a 10-6 lead. Yeshiva would respond going on a 9-2 run, capped off by a jump shot from junior forward
Simee Rosner at the buzzer, to put the Maccabees up 15-10 at the end of the opening quarter.

With the contest tied at 17, in the second quarter, back-to-back jumpers by Alge propelled the Maccabees to an 8-0 run, to give them a 25-17 lead, with 2:36 left in the half. Yeshiva would go into halftime with a 26-20 advantage.

In the third quarter, a three-point field goal by senior guard
Yael Anna Hausdorff extended Yeshiva's lead to 31-23. With just under four minutes remaining in the stanza, senior forward
Julia Owen's pair of free throws gave the Maccabees their largest lead of the game, 42-29. New Rochelle countered by scoring 10 of the game's next 12 points to pull to within five. The third quarter ended with Yeshiva protecting a 44-39 lead.

In the final quarter, Owen capitalized on a jumper just outside of the paint to extend Yeshiva's lead to 49-45 with 6:35 remaining. From that point on, New Rochelle tilted the contest into its favor by executing its second 10-2 run of the game to take a 55-51 advantage with just 2:23 left to play in regulation time. Owen converted a two-point field goal to narrow the Blue Angels' lead with 1:03 remaining. That would not be enough as New Rochelle scored the game's last five points, all by free throws, to win it by a score of 60-53.

For the game, Rosner produced 10 points, while Hausdorff and junior guard
Tess Blaustein each added seven points.

The Maccabees will be in action on Thursday for a home Skyline contest against the College at Old Westbury. Mac Madness will take place that evening on the campus of Baruch College. The women's game will start at 7:00 p.m., while the men's team will host Sarah Lawrence in a Skyline contest that is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m. All fans are encouraged to wear blue during this special doubleheader. Yeshiva merchandise will be sold throughout the evening.
