EDGEWATER, N.J.— The Yeshiva men's tennis team lost a tight one on Sunday as the Maccabees fell 5-4 to Hunter College at the Binghamton Racquet Club.
Yeshiva is now 3-2 on the season, while Hunter College improves to 1-1 overall.
The visiting Hawks defeated the Maccabees in two out of three doubles matches to grab a 2-1 lead. At No. 1 doubles,
David Papis Elon and
Charles Saka were defeated 8-4, while at No. 2 doubles
Dmitri Lebedyev and
Robby Rubin were nipped 9-8. At No. 3 doubles,
Akiva Katz and
Eitan Rudansky won 8-4.
In singles play, it was Papis Elon winning 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot. At No. 2 singles, Lebedyev won 6-2, 6-4. At No. 3 singles, Saka was defeated 6-2, 6-3, while at No. 4 Rubin lost 6-3, 6-0. At No. 5 singles Katz fell 6-4, 7-5. At No. 6 singles, Rudansky was victorious 6-3, 7-5.
Yeshiva returns to action on Tuesday for a match against Baruch College at the Binghamton Racquet Club at 8 p.m.
