FLUSHING, NY --- The College of Staten Island edged Yeshiva University, 5-4, in women's tennis action Tuesday night at the Queens College Tennis Complex. It was the season opener for both teams.
Yeshiva sophomore
Shani Hava was a winner at number one singles, winning in a pro-set. Junior
Lindsay Frucher won 7-5, 6-2 at number four singles, while junior
Anita Levy took the six spot, 6-1, 6-0.
The decisive match came at number five singles. After losing the first set, Yeshiva senior
Galila Shapiro rallied back to take the second set, 6-1. Shapiro gave it her all but couldn't prevail in the third set, falling short 6-3.
Up next for the Maccabees of Yeshiva, the team travels to Danbury, Connecticut on Thursday evening as they face Western Connecticut State in a 5:00 p.m. matchup.
