Box Score PALISADES PARK, NJ --- The Yeshiva University men's soccer team rallied to earn a 4-4 tie against the visiting team from the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Sunday night at Palisades Park, New Jersey.
Down 2-0 through the first 28 minutes of the game, the Maccabees got on the board 28:10 into the first half on a strike from senior
Daniel Amar. The score remained 2-1 going into halftime.
The Maccabees found themselves down 3-1 just 2:14 into the second period, and it seemed the chance of a win was slipping away. But junior
Itamar Ben David responded on the very next possession, pulling Yeshiva to within one just 37 seconds later.
In the 67
th minute, Ben David capitalized on a foul in the box to tie the game at 3-3 with a penalty kick. Eight minutes later, Amar drew a call on a hard foul and gave Yeshiva their first lead of the game on a PK.
Down for the first time in the game, the Dolphins found the equalizer in the 82
nd minute when a corner kick went off the hands of the Yeshiva goalkeeper, tying the game at 4-4. That score held up as 90 minutes ticked away.
Sophomore
Maor Feinstein had four saves in goal for the Maccabees while junior netminder David Melchor recorded five stops.
The Maccabees are now 3-3-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the Skyline Conference. It is the first time in school history Yeshiva has been unbeaten through three league games since joining the Skyline. The Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent are now 4-3-2 overall and 0-0-2 against conference opponents.
Yeshiva will be back on the field on Friday, September 25
th when they play host to Lehman College at Votee Park in Teaneck, New Jersey. Game time will be at 12:00 p.m.
