NEW YORK, N.Y. – On Friday October 28, the #2 Yeshiva University women's tennis team will host #3 St. Joseph's College – Long Island in a Skyline Conference Semifinal match at the Binghamton Racquet Club, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Maccabees finished in a three-way tie for first place in the conference standings, with a 6-1 record in Skyline play, but will officially enter the tournament as the #2 seed.
Last season, the Golden Eagles (9-3, 6-1 Skyline) eliminated the Maccabees (9-1, 6-1 Skyline) in the semifinals, 5-4. In their regular season meeting, back on September 28, the Golden Eagles earned a narrow win at home by a score of 5-4. The winner of Friday's matchup will play the winner of the other semifinal contest, #1 Farmingdale State vs. #4 The Sage Colleges, for the Skyline Conference Championship on Sunday October 30.
Leading the way for Yeshiva this season has been junior
Shani Hava, who won six of her seven #1 singles contests. The reigning Skyline Conference Player of the Year also won six doubles matches at the #1 flight.
Senior
Anita Levy won all seven of her singles flights and earned victories in five out of six doubles battles. Sophomore
Rebecca Packer is having an impressive rookie season, winning nine out of ten singles matches, including all seven in Skyline play. The Teaneck resident is 7-3 in doubles contests, including five victories in the #1 position. Senior
Lindsay Frucher is 8-1 in singles play and 7-2 in doubles competition, while junior
Adele Lerner won seven of eight doubles contests. Senior
Tzipora Leiser was victorious in six doubles matches.
