EDGEWATER, N.J. – The #2 Yeshiva University women's tennis team dropped its Skyline Conference Semifinal match to #3 St. Joseph's (L.I.), 5-2, at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Friday afternoon. The Maccabees are now eliminated for the Skyline Conference Championships, while the Golden Eagles earn a berth in the championship match and will play the winner of the other semifinal match between #4 The Sage Colleges and #1 Farmingdale State.
Yeshiva (9-2) was defeated in all three doubles flights. In singles competition, junior
Shani Hava cruised to a win in the first position, 6-1, 6-0. Sophomore
Rebecca Packer continued her successful rookie season by winning at #4 singles, 6-3, 6-0, pulling Yeshiva to within a 3-2 deficit in the contest. The Maccabees' surge was not enough, as the Golden Eagles (10-3) won the next two singles flights to clinch the match and a spot in the championship round.
Yeshiva will conclude the fall season by hosting Berkeley College, in a non-conference match at Queens College on Tuesday, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
