POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Yeshiva University women's and men's fencing teams competed in the Vassar Invitational at the Walker Field House on Sunday. The women's team earned a 14-13 victory over Hunter, while dropping contests to Incarnate Word, Tufts, Fairleigh Dickinson, West Point, Haverford, Sacred Heart, and Wellesley. The men's team went 2-6, earning wins against Hunter (14-13) and Incarnate Word (15-12).  
For the women, senior 
Jamie Baum earned 14 victories in epee bouts. Junior 
Rebecca Kerzner produced ten wins, classmate 
Noam Dery won six, while freshman 
Meira Weisblatt won one.
In foil, freshman 
Shoshana Ciment earned eight wins, senior Nili Greenberg produced four wins, and junior 
Channah Bickford had three.
Junior 
Gal Gir led the sabre fencers with three wins, sophomore 
Elana Muller picked up a pair of victories, while classmate 
Sarah Graff won her first collegiate fencing bout in her career.
On the men's side, junior 
Spencer Brasch led the way in foil, winning 18 out of 23 bouts. Sophomore 
Jonathan Sidlow was right behind him with 16 victories, while junior 
Jonah Taurog picked up his first three wins of his collegiate career.
In sabre, senior 
Jonathan Hoffman produced 13 wins, while senior 
Samuel Retter won four bouts. Sophomore 
Jason Siev's fencing career got off to an impressive start with three victories and junior 
Akiva Mager Garfield won his first career duel.
In epee, sophomore 
James Alavosus led the way with eight wins, while senior 
Alexander Koppel produced seven. Classmate 
Abraham Budow earned one win and sophomore 
Nolan Edmonson picked up his first collegiate fencing victory.
The men's fencing team will compete in the MACFA "A" vs. "B" event this Sunday at Hunter College, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The women's team will return to Vassar College on Sunday, for the Matt Lampell Hudson River Invitational, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
