NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team opens up the 2016-17 season at Ramapo College on Tuesday evening. The Maccabees will have two road contests before their home opener against York next Tuesday night.
Yeshiva will return six players from last season, including junior forward
Michal Alge, who averaged 10.4 points and 11.3 rebounds per contest, and was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week twice. Another key returner will be senior forward
Simee Rosner, who scored 7.5 points, grabbed 7.9 rebounds, and blocked 1.2 shots per game in 2015-16.
The Maccabees will have six players competing in their rookie seasons. Guards
Nicole Bick,
Penny Rabin,
Laura Betesh,
Avigayil Wiener, and
Tzipora Leiser add youth to the backcourt. Forward
Chavi Charlap will join Alge, Rosner, and
Gavriela Colton in the frontcourt. Guards
Shira Feen,
Shoshana Rozenberg, and
Andrea Weiss will help provide veteran leaderships for the Maccabees. The balance of returners and newcomers will make for an exciting season for YU.
