Last season, Purchase won both contests over Yeshiva.
YU begins the 2016-17 campaign with a 2-1 record. In their most recent contest, the Maccabees played the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's Long Island on Tuesday, in a game that was suspended with 6:33 remaining in the fourth quarter due to unsafe playing conditions. The game will be finished at a later date.
In the last completed contest, Yeshiva earned a hard-fought come-from-behind victory over York College, 61-53. The Maccabees were led by junior forward
Michal Alge, who scored 24 points and grabbed 22 rebounds, both career-highs, on her way to being named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week. That marks the first time a Yeshiva women's basketball player earned the accolade since Shir Fuchs achieved the honor twice back in the 2011-12 season. In the previous week, Alge was inducted into the Skyline Weekly Honor Roll.
For the season, Alge is averaging 20.7 points and 15 rebounds per contest, which leads all Skyline Conference players. The Boston resident also averages 38.3 minutes per contest, which ties her for first in the conference. Freshman guard
Laura Betesh has a team-high nine steals so far this season, while senior forward
Simee Rosner has blocked 2.3 shots per game, which is the second highest average in the Skyline.
