Box Score NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team suffered a Skyline Conference loss to St. Joseph's College - Long Island, 79-31, at the ARC Arena on Tuesday evening. The Maccabees now fall to 2-7 overall.
Leading the way for Yeshiva (2-7, 0-6 Skyline) was junior forward
Michal Alge, who produced her fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Golden Eagles (2-6, 1-4 Skyline) scored the first five points of the contest. The Maccabees answered with six unanswered points, capped off by a jumper from freshman guard
Laura Betesh to give the home team a 6-5 advantage, with 3:30 remaining in the opening quarter. St. Joseph's Long Island scored the last twelve points of the stanza to take a commanding 17-6 lead and never looked back.
Combined with the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second, the Golden Eagles scored 19 unanswered points. Yeshiva trailed by double-digits the rest of the way.
For the evening, senior forward
Simee Rosner grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds, while classmate
Tess Blaustein forced two steals. Betesh scored six points with five rebounds, while senior forward
Gavriela Colton brought down five boards of her own.
Senior guard
Tzipora Leiser produced two points, sophomore guard
Penny Rabin had a rebound and an assist, and junior guard
Shoshana Rozenberg brought down a rebound. Junior forward
Chavi Charlap produced two points and two rebounds, while sophomore guard
Avigayil Wiener added three points of her own. Junior guard
Andrea Weiss grabbed two rebounds and had one assist.
The Maccabees will be back in action on Thursday, for another Skyline game against the United States Merchant Marine Academy at the ARC Arena, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
