NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team fought hard, but fell to the Sage Colleges by a score of 74-49, at the ARC Arena on Tuesday evening.

Yeshiva was led by junior forward Michal Alge, who scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Senior forward Simee Rosner produced 10 points and six rebounds, while senior forward Tess Blaustein produced seven points, grabbed as many boards, and led all players with eight assists.

With Yeshiva trailing 4-2 early in the contest, Alge laid the ball up and in, to tie the contest with 8:34 left in the first quarter. Later in the stanza, the Boston resident converted another layup to narrow Sage's (4-4, 2-1 Skyline) lead to one, at 12-11, with four minutes remaining. The Gators went on an 8-2 run to extend the lead to 20-13.

After Sage controlled the second and third quarters, Yeshiva came out of the gate strong in the fourth, scoring 11 of the first 14 points. Highlighted in that run was a steal and three-pointer by junior guard Andrea Weiss, to narrow the Gators' lead to 65-48. Sage would shift momentum back into its favor by going on a 7-1 run to close out the contest.

For the game, Weiss and senior guard Tzipora Leiser each scored five points, while classmate Gavriela Colton grabbed seven boards. Freshman guard Penny Rabin scored two points, on a fast break off a steal, while sophomore guard Avigayil Wiener dished out an assist and forced a steal.

Yeshiva will be back in action on Thursday, for a Skyline Conference contest at Mount Saint Vincent, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
