Box Score OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's basketball team suffered a Skyline Conference loss to Old Westbury, 83-70, at the Clark Athletic Center on Thursday evening. The Maccabees now fall to three games behind the Panthers for first place in the Skyline standings.

The Maccabees (12-9, 10-6 Skyline) got off to a strong start as senior forward
Shelby Rosenberg connected on a two-point field goal to give Yeshiva a 24-19 lead with 10:02 remaining in the opening half. Just under two minutes later, with Yeshiva nursing a two-point lead, junior forward
Michael Berg converted a jump-shot to give the Maccabees more breathing room, at 28-24.

After the Panthers scored eight unanswered points, junior guard
Jordan Hod found freshman guard
Jamie Cappell, who converted a shot from beyond the arc, to pull the Maccabees within one, at 32-31, with just under six minutes remaining in the half. Just under three minutes later, Rosenberg was able to lay the ball up and in, to give Yeshiva a 35-34 advantage. Old Westbury responded with a 7-2 run to close out the half which put the Macs in a four-point deficit.

Junior forward
Dean Pienica and Rosenberg combined to score the first four points of the second half to allow Yeshiva to tie the game at 41. The Panthers countered with a bigger run of their own, scoring seven of the game's next nine points to regain the lead, 48-43, with 16:48 remaining. From that point on, Old Westbury never surrendered the lead and was able to pull away to the 83-70 victory.

For the game, Rosenberg scored 23 points with eight rebounds, while senior guard
Shaje Weiss added 16 points of his own. Pienica scored 10 points, while Cappell added eight. Berg tallied six points and dished out a team-high four assists, and freshman guard
Judah Cohen added five points.

Yeshiva concluded its three-game Skyline road trip on Sunday, with a showdown against the Sage Colleges, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
