HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's fencing team went 1-4 in the MACFA "A" vs. "B" meet on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology on Sunday afternoon. The highlight of the meet was Yeshiva knocking off Rutgers University, 16-11.
The Maccabees fell to Cornell University, 17-10, Lafayette College, 20-7, Haverford College, 18-9, and Drew University by a score of 17-10.
Yeshiva was led by sophomore
Spencer Brasch and freshman
Jonathan Sidlow, who each went 14-1 in foil bouts. Yeshiva went 28-17 in foil overall.
Junior
Jack Sasson led the way in sabre, by picking up seven victories. Freshman
Yosef Kerendian and sophomore
Jonathan Hoffman each won four bouts, while junior
Samuel Retter claimed one victory.
In epee, freshman
James Alavosus and junior
Ariel Ancer each won four bouts, while classmate
Alexander Koppel picked up one win.
The Maccabees will compete in the MACFA Championships, which will take place on Sunday, February 28, in South Hackensack, N.J.
