Box Score NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's basketball team had its four game Skyline winning streak snapped on Saturday, thanks to a 92-75 defeat to St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn, at the Max Stern Athletic Center.
The Maccabees (11-8, 9-5 Skyline) were competitive with the Bears (12-10, 9-9 Skyline) early in the game, as a layup by senior guard
Shaje Weiss tied the game at 17 with 12:40 remaining in the opening half. From that point on, St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn took complete control of the game, as an 18-7 run put the Bears up 35-24, with 5:11 remaining in the first period. Yeshiva went into the intermission down 47-34.
In the second half, the Maccabees inched closer as a layup by junior guard
Michael Berg pulled the home team within seven, at 51-44, with just under 15 minutes remaining. That was as close as Yeshiva would get as St. Joseph's went on an 11-2 run to take a commanding 62-46 lead with 12:48 remaining. The Bears never looked back and went on to win, 92-75.
Weiss scored a game-high 27 points, while senior forward
Shelby Rosenberg scored 12. Freshman guard
Jamie Cappell added 11 points.
Yeshiva will be back in action on Tuesday, for a Skyline contest against Sarah Lawrence College, at the Campbell Sports Center. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.Â
