EDGEWATER N.J. – In a battle of defending conference champions, the Yeshiva University men's tennis team defeated Hunter College, 8-1, at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Maccabees (2-1) won all three doubles matches against the defending CUNY Athletic Conference champions, and took five of six matches in singles play.
 
Junior David Papis Elon and freshman Mikey Ozery began the contest with a victory at #1 doubles, 8-2. Senior Steven Jemal and classmate Avi Siedman followed with an 8-3 win at #3 doubles. Senior Dmitri Lebedyev and junior Eitan Rudansky clinched the sweep in doubles play with an 8-3 win.
 
Rudansky began the singles portion of the contest with a victory at #5 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Senior Daron Greenblatt also cruised to a win, 6-0, 6-3, in #6 singles. Lebedyev continued Yeshiva's momentum with a win at #2 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Jemal took the fourth singles match, 6-4, 6-1.
 
Yeshiva will be back in action on Sunday, for a non-conference match against Colby-Sawyer College, at the Binghamton Racquet Club, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
