PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team earned a convincing Skyline Conference win over Purchase, 9-0, up in Westchester on Thursday evening. Yeshiva bumps its record to 9-3 overall, and 5-0 in the Skyline. Purchase falls to 6-4 overall, and 1-1 in conference contests.
The Maccabees were led by junior
David Papis Elon, who won at #1 singles, 6-1 and 6-2. He also teamed up with senior
Dmitri Lebedyev to earn the win at #1 doubles, 8-4. Lebedyev was also victorious in #2 singles, 6-0 and 7-5.
Senior
Steven Jemal cruised to a third singes victory, 6-2 and 6-1, while freshman
Charlie Friedman won his fourth singles contest, 6-3 and 6-0. Senior
Charles Saka won at #5 singles, 6-2 and 6-2, and winning at #6 singles was junior
Eitan Rudansky, 6-3 and 7-5.
Jemal and Saka combined forces to win at #2 doubles, 8-2, while Friedman and Rudansky were victorious at #3 doubles, 8-3.
The Maccabees will be back in action on Sunday, for a Skyline Conference match against St. Joseph's College of Long Island, at the Binghamton Racquet Club, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
