Box Score NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team dropped its Skyline Conference matchup to Farmingdale State, 77-44, at the ARC Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Leading the way for the Maccabees was senior forward
Tess Blaustein, who scored 14 points with four rebounds, dished out just as many assists, and blocked one shot.
Less than a minute into the game, Blaustein drilled a three-point field goal to put the Maccabees (2-13, 0-10 Skyline) up, 3-0. The Rams (10-7, 8-3 Skyline) responded by scoring 17 unanswered points to take a commanding lead.
Yeshiva would gain a boost, as freshman guard
Laura Betesh drained a three-point field goal, while being fouled, with less than three minutes left in the opening quarter. She made the free throw to complete the four-point play. After Yeshiva's defense prevented Farmingdale State from scoring, Blaustein drained another shot from downtown to cap off Yeshiva's 7-0 run, and narrow the Rams' lead to 20-10, with 1:26 left in the stanza. That would be the score at the end of one.
With 7:16 left in the half,
Avigayil Wiener nailed a three-point shot to pull the Maccabees to within single-digits, at 24-15. That's as close as Yeshiva would get, as Farmigdale State was able to build its lead for the remainder of the game and went on to earn the Skyline win.
For the afternoon, Betesh scored 10 points with four rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Junior forward
Michal Alge and senior forward
Simee Rosner each produced eight points, with the former grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds, and the latter with 11 rebounds. Wiener scored five points with two assists, while senior forward
Gavriela Colton brought down three rebounds. Sophomore guard
Penny Rabin brought down three rebounds, while junior guard
Shira Feen had two caroms.
Yeshiva had the slight edge in rebounds over Farmingdale State, 50-49, for the afternoon.
Yeshiva will hit the road on Tuesday, for a Skyline Conference game at St. Joseph's College Brooklyn. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
