No. 1 Women's Tennis to Host No. 4 Purchase College in Skyline Semifinal on Wednesday

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's tennis team will host No. 4 Purchase College, in a Skyline Conference Semifinal match, at the USTA National Tennis Center on Wednesday evening. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Maccabees enter the Skyline Conference Championships as the No. 1 seed. YU will be looking to win its first Skyline women's tennis championship since 1999. Yeshiva hopes to make history by earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, which would mark the first time in school history that a women's program earned a spot in the prestigious NCAA Championships.

Yeshiva won all six Skyline matches, and earned an impressive 8-1 overall record, during the regular season.

Leading the way was senior Shani Hava, who won all five singles matches and all five doubles matches she competed in. They were all at the #1 position against Skyline opponents. Hava has the best #1 singles record out of all the players in the Skyline Conference, and is tied for the second best overall singles record.

Junior Rebecca Packer won all six of her Skyline doubles matches, all in the #1 position. She went 6-0 in Skyline singles matches, which tops the conference. Her 5-0 mark at the #3 singles position, also leads the Skyline.

Sophomore Bailey Frohlich went 5-0 in Skyline singles matches and 6-0 (with one win in the first position) in conference doubles matches. Frohlich's 3-0 record in #5 singles matches is the second best in the Skyline.

Purchase enters the Skyline Championships with a 6-6 overall record, and 3-3 in Skyline play. The Maccabees opened the season with a victory over the Panthers, 5-3, on the Purchase College Tennis Courts back on September 5. Leading the way for Purchase has been freshman Racquelle DeCicco, who has an undefeated record of 11-0 in singles matches in the regular season. Junior Abigail Cuddy earned an impressive record of 9-2 in doubles matches during the season.

The winner of the Yeshiva-Purchase semifinal match will take on the winner of the other semifinal match, between No. 2 St. Joseph's Long Island and No. 3 Mount Saint Mary, for the Skyline Tournament Championship this weekend. Day, time, and location are to be determined.
