NEWARK, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's fencing team competed in the MACFA "B" vs. "C" event, on the campus of New Jersey Institute of Technology, on Sunday afternoon. YU defeated the College of William & Mary, 15-12, but dropped duels to Johns Hopkins, Navy, Haverford, and Maryland.
In the team win against William & Mary, Yeshiva's foil fencers won seven out of nine bouts. Junior
Spencer Brasch and senior
Jonathan Sidlow each won all three bouts, while junior
Jonah Taurog was victorious in one bout. In epee, sophomore
Nolan Edmonson won two bouts, while senior
Alexander Koppel earned a win of his own. The sabre team earned a 5-4 win over the opposition. Senior

Jason Siev each picked up two wins, while senior
Samuel Retter won the deciding bout.
Against Maryland, Hoffman won two sabre bouts, while Retter and Siev each added a win. In foil, Brasch went 2-1, while Sidlow and Taurog earned one victory each.
Koppel earned two epee wins against Navy, while Edmonson won one bout. Brasch and Sidlow each won two foil duels.
Against Haverford, Edmonson won an epee battle, while Brasch won all three foil duels. Sidlow added another victory in foil.
Hoffman won all three sabre duels against Johns Hopkins, while Brasch was victorious in a foil bout.
Overall, Brasch went 11-4 in foil competition.
The Maccabees will be back in action on Sunday, March 5, for the MACFA Championships in Baltimore, Maryland.
