EDGEWATER, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team knocked off the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 8-1, at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Sunday afternoon. With the victory, Yeshiva has clinched a berth in the upcoming Skyline Conference championships. The reigning three-time Skyline Conference tournament champions have now won 21 consecutive conference matches dating back to 2014.

Leading the way for Yeshiva (11-1, 6-0 Skyline) was senior David Papis Elon, who cruised to a victory at the first singles position, 6-2, 6-2. The Herzliya resident teamed with freshman Lior Brik to earn a #1 doubles win, 8-4. Brik won both sets of his #2 singles contest by scores of 6-2 and 7-6.

At second doubles, senior Eitan Rudansky and his younger brother, freshman Avidan Rudansky, earned a narrow victory, 9-8. The former won at #5 singles, 6-4, 6-0, while the latter won at #6 singles by identical scores of 6-1 and 6-1.

Senior Daron Greenblatt won a competitive #4 singles flight. After the Englewood resident and his opponent split the first two sets, Greenblatt won the tiebreaker, 10-6. Earlier in the Skyline match, he teamed with junior Charlie Friedman to win at #3 doubles, 8-5.

Yeshiva will travel to Long Island on Wednesday, for a Skyline Conference match at Farmingdale State. First serve of the rematch from the 2016 Skyline Conference finals is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
