EDGEWATER, N.J. – The Yeshiva University women's tennis team earned a key Skyline Conference victory over St. Joseph's College Long Island, 8-1, at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees now bump their record to 3-0 overall and in Skyline play, while St. Joseph's Long Island fall to 1-1 (0-1 Skyline).
Yeshiva won all three doubles matches and was victorious in five out of the six singles contests.
Leading the way for the Maccabees was senior
Shani Hava who cruised in her #1 singles flight, 6-0, 6-2, and teamed with junior
Rebecca Packer to win at #1 doubles, 8-4. Packer earned a win in the third singles position, 6-2, 6-0.
Senior
Rachel Slater and classmate
Andrea Weiss teamed up to win a tight #2 doubles match in a tiebreaker, 9-8. Slater came back to win at #4 singles, 6-2, 7-5.
Sophomore
Bailey Frohlich and classmate
Michal Ladenheim won their #5 and #6 singles, respectively, with neither of them dropping a game in their two sets. They teamed up to cruise at #3 singles, 8-1.
Yeshiva will play another Skyline match this Wednesday, this time at Mount Saint Mary, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
