NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's tennis team earned a Skyline win over Mount Saint Mary College, 9-0, on the Mount Saint Mary Tennis Courts on Wednesday evening. Yeshiva bumps its record to 4-1 overall, and 4-0 in Skyline play.
Senior Shani Hava cruised to a #1 singles win, 6-2, 6-2. She teamed with junior Rebecca Packer to win the first doubles position, 8-4. Hava has won all four singles and all four doubles matches she has competed in up to this point, all in the #1 position. Packer came back to win at #3 singles, 6-3, 6-0.
Senior Adele Lerner earned a hard-fought win at #2 singles. She split the first two sets with her opponent (6-1, 1-6) and then won the tiebreaker, 12-10. She teamed with sophomore Bailey Frohlich and won a close #2 doubles match, 9-7. Frohlich earned a dominating win at #5 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
Senior Rachel Slater and classmate Andrea Weiss cruised to a win at #3 doubles, 8-0. The former won at #4 singles, 6-2, 6-1, and the latter won the sixth singles position, 6-2, 6-1.
Yeshiva will be back in action on Thursday, for a non-conference match against Lehman College, on the Queens College Tennis Courts beginning at 7:00 p.m.
