EDGEWATER, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team earned a non-conference victory over Rutgers University-Newark, 7-2, at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Thursday evening. The Maccabees advance to 4-4, while the Scarlet Raiders drop to 0-1.
The Macs won two out of three doubles flights and five out of six singles matchups to earn the team victory.
Freshman
Dor Gutterman and senior
Charlie Friedman started Yeshiva's momentum with a convincing win at #1 doubles, 8-1. Sophomore
Alexander Kalb and junior
Naftali Perlysky kept it going with a win in the second doubles position by the same score.
In singles play, junior
Adam Rosemblaum earned a win in the first position, 6-3, 6-4. Friedman returned to win every game at the third flight. Sophomore
Lior Brik dominated at #2 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Classmate
Yoni Sacknovitz earned a hard-fought win at #4 singles, 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5). Freshman
Ezra Rudansky also won a 10-point tiebreaker to win his singles match, at the fifth position, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7). Junior
Isaac Scheinman won the second set at #6 singles but fell in the 10-point tiebreaker.
Yeshiva will return to Skyline play on Sunday, at Mount Saint Mary. First serve is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
