EDGEWATER, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team earned a convincing win over the defending CUNY Athletic Conference champions, Baruch College, by a score of 8-1 at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Sunday afternoon. Just like the defending four time Skyline Conference champion Yeshiva University, Baruch also won its first round match of the NCAA tournament in 2017.

The Maccabees advance their record to 2-1 against Division III opponents (2-3) overall, while the Bearcats fall to 0-3.

Yeshiva swept the doubles flights and was victorious in five out of six singles positions.

Junior Mikey Ozery and sophomore Avidan Rudansky began YU's momentum by winning at #3 doubles, 8-0. Freshman Dor Gutterman and senior Charlie Friedman continued the Macs' momentum by claiming #2 doubles by a score of 8-2. Junior Adam Rosemblaum and sophomore Lior Brik closed out doubles play by winning the first position, 8-3.

In singles, Brik led it off by dominating in the fourth flight, 6-0, 6-1. Friedman followed with a win at #5 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Rosemblaum continued Yeshiva's momentum by winning the first position, 6-2, 6-2. Gutterman won the opening set at #2 singles, but dropped the match in a 10-point tiebreaker. Sophomore Yoni Sacknovitz got Yeshiva back on track, winning the sixth singles position in two close sets, 6-4, 7-5. Ozery capped off the match by winning the third singles flight, 7-5, 6-0.

Yeshiva will return to the Binghamton Racquet Club on Wednesday, for a non-conference match against Lehman College. First serve is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
