NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released its women's tennis preseason rankings on Wednesday, and Yeshiva University is projected to finish first in the conference standings. Voting was conducted by all of the head coaches in the Skyline.
The Maccabees received 34 points, including five first place votes. Last season, the women's tennis team won its first Skyline Conference championship since 1999 and was the first women's team in school history to compete in the NCAA postseason tournament.
Danielle Carr will be at the helm for the defending Skyline Conference champions, as she was promoted to head coach after serving the program for three years as an assistant. She takes over for Naomi Kaszovitz, who stepped down after leading the Maccabees to a historic season.
Four players from last year's championship team will return this season and try to lead the program to its second straight Skyline Conference championships. They are juniors
Bailey Frohlich,
Shana Adler, and
Amanda Berlin, as well as senior
Hannah Brodskaya.
Yeshiva will begin its championship defense on Sunday, against Pratt Institute, at Queens College. First serve is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
