NEWARK, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's fencing team competed in the MACFA "B" vs. "C" meet, on the campus of New Jersey Institute of Technology, on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees dropped team duels to College of William & Mary (20-7), Johns Hopkins University (23-4), Haverford College (22-5), Navy (23-4), and the University of Maryland (14-11).
The epee team won three duels as a unit to lead the way for the Maccabees. Sophomore

James Alavosus led the group with impressive 9-6 records for the day
Against Maryland, the epee and sabre teams earned victories for the Maccabees, 5-4 and 6-1 respectively. Polster and sophomore
Ilan Marouani each picked up a win in epee, while first-year fencer
Gabriel Miller and sophomore
Avi Glazer each won a sabre duel.
The epee team dominated in its duels against William & Mary. Polster went 3-0 in his battles, while Alavosus took two out of three. Marouani added a victory of his own. Glazer picked up another sabre victory.
Against Haverford, the epee pack once again earned a close victory by a score of 5-4. Alavosus and Polster each went 2-1, while Marouani picked up a victory of his own.
In the battle with Navy, Alavosus and Polster each won two out of three duels, but it was not enough as the epee unit just fell short, 5-4.
Against Johns Hopkins, Marouani and Alavosus each compiled a record of 2-1.
Yeshiva will compete in the MACFA Championships, at Drew University, on March 3.
