NEWARK, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's fencing team competed in the MACFA "B" vs. "C" meet, on the campus of New Jersey Institute of Technology, on Sunday afternoon. Yeshiva earned wins over William & Mary (18-9) and the University of Maryland (15-11), while dropping team bouts to Haverford College (20-7), Johns Hopkins University (23-4), and the United States Naval Academy (20-7).

Zaelig Averch each went 3-0 to lead the epee team to a convincing 9-0 victory. In sabre, freshman

Shmuel Perton notched a victory in foil.
During YU's win over Maryland, Perton and sophomore
Charles Grill each won a foil battle to lead their weapon squad to a narrow 5-4 victory. In epee, Averch won two out of three bouts, while Polster and Marouani each notched one victory. Teichberg picked up another sabre win.
The epee team just fell short against Johns Hopkins, 5-4. Averch took two out of three duels, while Polster and Marouani earned a win each.
Everyone chipped in for the sabre team against Haverford, as Teichberg, Shindleman, and junior
Mordechai Sheinson each earned a win. Polster and Averch each took two out of three epee battles.
Yeshiva's epee team earned a convincing 7-2 victory over Navy. Averch won all three duels, Polster went 2-1, and Marouani notched a victory of his own.
For the afternoon, the epee team went 3-2. Averch went won 12 out of 15 duels, while Polster earned a record of 9-6.
The Maccabees will return to action on Thursday, for a dual meet against the defending NCAA National Champion Columbia University Lions. The battle at University Gymnasium, on the campus of Columbia University, is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
