No. 6 Men's Soccer to Battle No. 3 Farmingdale State College in Skyline First-Round Matchup on Sunday

NEW YORK – For the second time in program history, the Yeshiva University men's soccer team will be competing in the Skyline Conference Championships. The Maccabees' quest for its first league title in program history will begin on Sunday as No. 6 Yeshiva (5-7-0) will battle No. 3 Farmingdale State College (10-5-1), at the Farmingdale State Soccer Complex, beginning at noon.

The winner of the Skyline Tournament first-round matchup will travel to Riverdale, N.Y., and face No. 2 College of Mount Saint Vincent in the league semifinal round, on Wednesday. That matchup will begin at 2:00 p.m.

For more information, check out the Skyline's Championship Central Page.

For fans who cannot make it to Long Island on Sunday, Farmingdale will be providing live video which can be accessed here. Live stats will also be available at this link.

This is the second time these two teams have met each other in the Skyline Championships. Back in 2015, the No. 3 Rams bested the No. 6 Maccabees, 2-0. It was Yeshiva's first-ever appearance in the conference postseason that year.

This season, Yeshiva suffered a hard-fought loss in its regular season head-to-head matchup to Farmingdale State, by a score of 2-1, at Votee Park this past Sunday. Carlos Rivera tallied a penalty kick goal that broke a 1-1 tie during the 77th minute and that ended up being the match-winner. Ethan Fettaya was Yeshiva's lone goal scorer during the battle.

Fettaya has scored eight goals for the Maccabees this season and has also provided strong playmaking ability with three assists. Lucas Baredes has scored five goals and tallied a pair of helpers during his rookie campaign. Josh Ziarno and Rafael Cohen have each found the back of the net three times, with the latter also having an assist. Naor Dahan has a team-high four assists in 2021.

On the defensive side for Yeshiva, Sagi Badash earned three shutout wins during the regular season. Asher Martin has been a staple to Yeshiva's defense by helping the team hold opponents to less than two goals per match.

For the Rams, Rivera has scored seven goals and recorded five assists this year. Roberto Alfaro has found the inside of the cage five times and provided a pair of assists. In net, Justin Silva earned seven shutouts this year and his goals against average for the season is 0.70.
