MADISON, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's fencing team returned to Drew University on Sunday afternoon for three more bouts against the host school. YU dropped all three duels (21-6, 22-5, and 21-6).
In the first battle against the Rangers, junior
Zaelig Averch won two out of three foil bouts and earned a win in epee. Senior
Joshua Polster went 2-1 in epee duels, while adding a victory using the foil weapon.
In the second team duel, Averch won all three of his foil matchups and was victorious in one epee battle. Polster earned an epee victory of his own.
In the third matchup between the two schools, YU suffered a narrow 5-4 defeat in foil competition. Averch one again went undefeated using the foil weapon and tallied one more epee victory. Polster also claimed a foil victory, while senior
Ilan Marouani was victorious in one epee bout.
For the afternoon, Averch went 8-1 in foil competition and earned 11 victories overall. Polster won five bouts total.
