Box Score PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team kicked off the 2021 season with a Skyline Conference victory over St. Joseph's College Long Island, 9-0, at the SJC Outdoor Field Complex on Tuesday evening. Yeshiva (1-0) now extends its conference winning streak to 38 matches, dating back to 2014.
"Today was a great start to a much-delayed season," Yeshiva University Head Coach
Jon Rubinstein said. "The guys went in with a hunger to compete and didn't let rust stand in their way."
The Maccabees only lost one game in doubles play. Senior
Eitan Jeselsohn and junior
Michael Froehlich opened up play with an 8-0 victory in the third position. Junior
Aaron Cohen and senior
Dylan Ohayon were 8-0 victors in the second doubles flight, while sophomore
Anthony Lallouz and junior
Amram Wahnon claimed No. 1 doubles, 8-1.
Jeselsohn kicked off the singles portion of the match with a win at the No. 4 spot, 6-0, 6-0. Froehlich and Wahnon also won every game in both sets at No. 6 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Lallouz earned a win at No. 2 singles, (6-0, 6-3), while Cohen claimed the first singles flight (6-2, 6-0). Ohayon concluded the match with a gutsy win at No. 5 singles, 7-6 (5), 6-1.
Yeshiva will battle Manhattanville, in a Skyline Conference match at the Manhattanville Tennis Courts, on Friday afternoon. First serve is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
