NEW YORK - Yeshiva University rookie phenom Zevi Samet was selected as the Skyline Men's Basketball Player of the Week, on Tuesday morning. This is the second major weekly award he has earned from the conference. Last week, he was named the league's Rookie of the Week

Samet led Yeshiva to a convincing Skyline victory over St. Joseph's University Brooklyn, on Wednesday, and had another strong game against Farmingdale State College, on Saturday night.

In the Macs' win over the Bears, Samet netted 40 points, the fourth most in a single game by a first-year player in school history. The Monsey native drained 11 triples out of 16 attempts from beyond the arc and grabbed four rebounds. Against the Rams, three nights later, Samet led all players with 31 points, while grabbing seven rebounds, dishing out two assists, and registering a pair of steals.

Samet is having a historic rookie campaign, averaging 29.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 47.8% from the field and 48.6% from 3-point range.

Yeshiva will take on Purchase College, in a Skyline conference matchup at Purchase College Gymnasium, on Tuesday. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
