NEW YORK, NY - Competing over at Hunter College in the MACFA A vs B Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 19, the Yeshiva men's fencing teams put up stellar results, capturing the team's second win of the season while facing off against tough regional opposition.
 
Seeing their first MACFA action of the season, the Maccabees faced off against Rowan University, Drew University, Cornell University, Lafayette University and Rutgers University.
 
Following the bouts, the Macs now sport a 2-23 record on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Starting off on fire, the Macs captured their first and only win of the day in Round 1 against Rowan, taking down the Owls by a score of 14-13. Despite dropping the epee round 7-2, the Macs rebounded in the latter two thanks to excellent swordsmanship from Alexander Siegman, Shneur Levy, Aden Lyons, Jonathan Laredo and Noam Ben Simon, seeing a 5-4 win in foil and a dominant 7-2 victory in sabre.
   
• Unable to maintain their early momentum however, the Macs dropped the next two rounds, losing 1-26 up against Drew and 3-24 versus Cornell.
   
• Despite the mid round setbacks, Yeshiva rallied somewhat against two very tough opponents in rounds number four and five, falling 3-24 to Lafayette and 4-21 to Rutgers.

Taking only two weeks in between tournaments, the Macs will travel up to Waltham, MA for the Brandeis University Invitational on Sunday, Dec. 3.
