NEW YORK - The Yeshiva University men's tennis team will begin the 2023 spring season on Sunday against SUNY Oneonta, at Edgewater Tennis Center, on Sunday. First serve is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
The Maccabees advanced all the way to the Skyline Championship match the previous season, but fell short against Manhattanville College in the league title match at the GoValiants.com Tennis Courts by a score of 5-4. This year, Yeshiva will begin the quest for its seventh Skyline Conference Championship in the past 10 seasons.
Yeshiva will have a young and talented squad this year, as 11 of the 16 student-athletes are rookies. The returners for Yeshiva will be senior and team captain
Eitan Jeselsohn, junior
Joshua Deutsch, graduate student
Eli Hanuka, sophomore
Sion Jacobo, and senior
Yoni Mayer.
Jon Rubinstein is in his ninth season as head coach of the men's tennis program. He will be assisted
Chris Chan, for the fourth year in a row, and
Elliott Smego who is in his first season with the Maccabees.

Earlier this season, rookie
Pinny Balsam competed in the Intercollegiate (ITA) Northeast Regional, at the Drew University Tennis Complex, back on September 30 and October 2. In his collegiate debut, he gained experience against some of the best players in the country.
In the fall, Yeshiva went 0-2, including a hard-fought 5-3 loss at Ramapo College back on October 26. Against the Roadrunners, freshman
Israel Bussu won at the fourth court, 6-4, 6-1. Fellow rookie
Jose Hambra was victorious at the sixth position, 6-1, 6-1.
