TEMPE, Ariz. – The women's and men's tennis teams earned major honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), on Wednesday. A total of 14 tennis student-athletes, eight on the women's team and six on the men's side, were named ITA scholar-athletes by earning a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher during the 2022-23 academic year. The two programs were once again recognized by the ITA as All-Academic Teams due to earning a GPA of 3.2 or higher as a unit. This marks the 11th year in a row each team has earned this prestigious honor.
For 2022-23, the women's program earned a team GPA of 3.74, while the men produced a combined GPA of 3.33.
Both YU tennis programs had strong regular seasons and qualified for the Skyline Conference Championships.
On the women's side,
Liana Friedman and
Shira Adler were both named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, with the latter earning a spot on the All-Skyline second team.
The men's team defeated St. Joseph's University Long Island in the first round of the Skyline Championships to earn a berth in the conference semifinal.
Michael Natkin was named to the All-Skyline first team, while
Eitan Jeselsohn landed on the All-Skyline second team. Jeselsohn and
Yoni Mayer earned spots on the CSC Academic All-District team.
