PHILADELPHIA, PA - Kicking off their 2025-26 campaign out of state, the Yeshiva Men's Fencing Team took part in Temple University's Coach Nikki Franke Classic on Sunday, Oct. 26th.
The Maccabees crossed swords with schools from across the country, including: Wagner College, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of North Carolina, Boston College, Duke University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Johns Hopkins University, the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Sacred Heart University, Penn State University, Temple University, New York University, Drew University, the University of Florida, Haverford College, Stevens Institute of Technology, Rutgers University, Rowan University, Drexel University, Swarthmore College, and the City College of New Jersey.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Starting at 8:00 AM, the Macs had one fencer, Emmit DeHart competing in Epee. The junior posted a record of 1-7 in pool play, recording a 5-4 victory over a competitor from Stevens. He advanced to the Tableau stage of competition tied for the 63rd seed, falling in the first round by a score of 15-11.
- Continuing at 9:30 AM, Yeshiva had three fencers, Judah Greenbaum, Samuel Wallach, and Aden Lyons competing in foil. All three fencers posted a record of 0-4, with Greenbaum placing 68th, Wallach tying for 73rd, and Lyons tying for 79th.
- Rounding out the day at 12:30 PM, YU had three fencers, Avy Nakache-Habib, Eitan Nissel, and Henry Wildes competing in sabre. Both Nissel and Wildes failed to advance to the Tableau stage, finishing with records of 1-4 and 0-5 respectively. Nakache-Habib on the other hand, tallied two wins against opponents from Florida and Haverford, making it to the Tableau as the 54th seed. There, he fell in the first round, losing to a fencer from Boston College, 15-2.
