HAVERFORD, PA - Heading out to the commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the second time this season, the Yeshiva Men's Fencing Team competed in the MACFA B vs C tournament on Sunday, Nov, 23rd.
The Maccabees faced off against a quintet of tough foes, crossing swords with: Navy, the College of William & Mary, the University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins University, and Haverford College.
With the result, the Macs are now 0-16 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Maccabees started off the day strong against Navy, picking up nine bout wins before ultimately falling, 18-9.
- Yeshiva did even better against William & Mary picking up 10 points thanks to excellent sword work from Eitan Nissel and Avy Nakache-Habib in sabre, Samuel Wallach, Judah Greenbaum, and Aden Lyons in foil, and Jonathan Werta, Daniel Rosen, and Emmit DeHart in epee. However, the effort was not enough to tally their first win of the season, dropping the match, 16-10.
- The Macs continued to notch stellar finishes, battling Maryland to a 17-9 loss behind bout wins from Nakache-Habib, Nissel, Wallach, Werta, and Rosen.
- YU slowed down in the final two rounds, falling to both Johns Hopkins and Haverford by a score of 25-2.
