Men’s Basketball Remains Undefeated at Home with 67-53 Win Over Old Westbury



NEW YORK, NY – The men's basketball team defeated the visiting Panthers of Old Westbury 67-53 Thursday night, keeping their home record unblemished at 2-0. Overall, the Macs stand at 4-3 (3-1), while Old Westbury drops to 2-2 (1-1).



Simon Brookim led all scorers with 18 points, all of which came in the final 20 minutes. Chen Biron followed with 15, Omer Haim had 14, and Martin Leibovich had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The four combined to shoot 20-37 from the field.



Yeshiva started the game slow, trailing 4-0 in the opening minutes. The Panthers pushed their lead to 7 midway through the first half, but the Macs charged back to pull within 2 with 6:37 to play. The Macs took their first lead of the game after two free throws from Chen Biron, and never looked back, despite the teams entering the locker room tied at 29.



The Panthers held a brief 1 point lead at 16:22, but they would never see another lead. Brookim's jumper in the paint gave the Maccabees the lead for good. Yeshiv'as first double digit lead came at 4:04, after a three pointer from Omer Haim gave the Macs a 58-47 advantage. They extended the lead to as much as 18, before the game ended with Yeshiva on top by 14.



For the Panthers, Lester Prosper was the only one to score in double figures with 14. He also pulled down 8 rebounds, while playing almost 30 minutes.



The Maccabees will continue conference play this Saturday night when they travel to Maritime College. The game is schedule to tip-off at 8:30PM.
