Men’s Basketball Struggles at Maritime Despite Outscoring Privateers in Second Half

NEW YORK, NY – The Yeshiva men's basketball team dropped a road conference contest at Maritime College 66-47 late Saturday evening. The loss leaves Yeshiva at 4-4 (3-2) while propelling Maritime to 4-2 (2-1) on the season.

Omer Haim was the only Maccabee to score in double figures, as he netted 10 points on 4-7 shooting from the field. The Macs shot 40% in the first half, but picked it up to 53% in the second. For the game, Yeshiva shot 18-39, or 46% from the field. Yeshiva was out-rebounded 33-17.

Play went back and forth in the opening minutes, as neither team was able to extend their lead to more than 2. At the 11:30 mark, Omer Haim tied the game with a three pointer, but Maritime took over after that. A 16-3 run gave the Privateers a 13 point lead that they would never give back. Maritime ended the final 3:09 with a 10-0 run to give them a 44-20 halftime lead.

Yeshiva fell further behind to open the second half, but continued to play hard and fight back. They would cut their 28 point deficit to 21, but didn't have the ability to continue their run. The Maccabees ended the half with an impressive run of their own, holding the home team scoreless over the last 3:13, a 10-0 run of their own.
