Baseball downed by Old Westbury

(Bronx, NY) – Sophomore Jeremy Schwartz (Brooklyn, NY/MTA) went 2 for 3 with two RBI's and junior David Kesselman (West Hempstead, NY/DRS Yeshiva) pitched five outstanding innings in relief, but the Yeshiva University Baseball team fell to 0-5 with a 25-4 loss to Skyline Conference powerhouse Old Westbury on Wednesday night at Taft High School. With the loss, YU is now 0-3 in Skyline Conference play.

Old Westbury started the game scoring 12 runs during the first two innings and never looked back as the Maccabees committed 13 errors, and allowed 15 unearned runs. Kesselman was a bright spot for YU, allowing only one earned run during five innings of work as he struck out two.

Schwartz also had a terrific night for Yeshiva, driving home junior Seth Fein (Woodmere, NY/HANC) with a single in the bottom of the third inning, and Max Gornish (St. Louis, MO/Block Yeshiva) with a double in the fifth innning.

Yeshiva returns to action on Sunday afternoon when they host Mount Saint Mary for a Skyline Conference doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
